Recycled glass jars

I don't know where my recent fascination with glass jars has come from but I am absolutely loving using them for all sorts of purposes!

As I live in a rented flat, there is very little I can do decorating wise so I'm really pleased I have found a pretty way to store things. Girly and practical!

My boyfriend Paul and I went to a car boot sale last year to sell ALOT of stuff. We actually did really well and made £70 which funded our camping trip of the jubilee weekend. (Thanks again for that Queenie!) Leaving Paul to it I went for a little wander round and found the little jar on the right. In hindsight it does rather look a bit like a nipple?! But at the time I was blinded by excitement that I'd finally found a glass jar that didn't cost an unnecessary amount of money. A little bit of haggling and I picked this up for £2.50. Bargain! I then went to the local haberdashery store and picked up the cute baby pink polka dot ribbon for about 30p and tied it in a cute little bow. I now fill it with cotton wool pads and I think it looks great!

The jar on the left is something I pinched from work. I had to wait for all the delicious strawberry Bonbons to be eaten and the jar was mine! I took it home and filled it with my favourite nail varnishes. Not only does it look colourful it has also made some space in my nail varnish bag!

My next idea is to get another one and fill it with colourful cupcake cases!

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose

So not that long ago I did a post on my 'may wish list' which was really supposed to be for items I would like for my birthday but I really couldn't resist purchasing this little beauty and I am so glad I did! I am a sucker for pink blushers...anything pink come to think of it!

In terms of packaging it's your standard classic Bobbi black packaging with the iconic font. It feels really sturdy actually and I feel like I could chuck it in my bag and it would survive! Although I don't think I'll be doing that because I really do want to keep it in pristine condition. (Lame I know!) and obviously it's great that there's such a large mirror!
The swatch on the left is to show how it looks with a heavier application and the one on the right is from a more gentle sweep. So shimmery I love it!

I've been just playing around with it as I've only had it a few days so I've just been lightly sweeping it onto my cheekbones and the shimmer effect when light hits your face is just amazing! The colours are so beautiful together and  they make a lovely soft rose colour (hence the name!) it lasts all day and i i have no need to re apply which is always a winner! This is a multiple use product which is an absolute bonus because Bobbi Brown say you can use each individual shade as an eyeshadow. Now I'm not really an eyeshadow wearer so I don't think I'll be trying this but they also say you can use the lightest shade as a highlighter for the brow bone so I will definitely be giving that a go!

This is £32.00 which is more than I'd like to pay for a blusher but this is no ordinary blusher...this is the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick!

Yankee Candle Fluffy Towels

I absolutely love Yankee Candles. Whenver I purchase any other brand of scented candle I just find that they don't smell as great, fill a room with a scent or don't last very long. I have been on the hunt for a more 'natural' smelling candle that will last a long time and fill a room quickly.

When I purchased this it was actually an impulse buy and I was in Debenhams perusing the homeware section when I had an hour to kill and stumbled accross a Yankee section! This is the medium jar and the price is £16.99. I actually got it cheaper as it was the blue cross sale! You can pick this up here.

I'm aware this scent has been around for a long time but I've always gone for a stronger smelling candle so when I smelt this one I couldn't wait to buy it!

It smells INCREDIBLE. I am a huge fan of the smell of clearn washing (who isn't!) and especially my towels. It fills the room very quickly and like I said, it's so nice to have a smell filling the room that feels natural and not the slightest bit over powering. I've had it on constantly and been moving it between the bedroom and living room....I really should have just bought two!!

What's your faveourite smelling candle?

Malteaser fridge cake!

I absolutely LOVE chocolate and I really don't think I'd ever be able to give it up! It's quite terrible really because whenever I see a selection of cakes I will always pick the chocolate kind! Even flicking through my recipe books I'll hunt out the chocolate ones! But I figure if you're going do something wrong then you might as well do it right! So when I saw this recipe by Lorraine Pascale and it's simplicity I had to give it go. So behold...

The Malteaser Fridge Cake!

Now when I mentioned the simplicity of this....I really mean it! Given my 'if at first you don't suceed try and try again' attitude slowly going out the window with every diasterous cake I pull out of the oven, I was extremely happy to see that the FRIDGE does all the work here!

So here is what you need...

Brownie tin
Banking paper
125g butter
400g plain or milk chocolate (I used milk chocolate)

2 tbsp of golden syrup
250g crushed digestive biscuit (crush them to small pieces)
135g maltesers

METHOD:
  • Line the tin with baking paper
  • Melt the butter in a large pan over a low heat
  • Add the chocolate and golden syrup and melt whilst stirring
  • Take the pan off the heat and add the malteasers and crushed biscuits
  • Put the mixture in the tin and flatten the top with a spatula
  • Cover and put in the fridge for a few hours to allow it to set
  • Once set, cut into even pieces

Easy Peasy and so delicious.

Enjoy!

30 day squat challenge

Now I have to admit I have been totally useless with the gym recently. I was going regularly and eating pretty well in January as I went on holiday to Mexico. I actually tried to cut out a lot of carbs and I did shed a few pounds and I felt so much better for it. I know it's not a long term thing to do but it was just the quick fix I needed for my attempt at a 'bikini body'. Since returning...things have gone a little downhill! I think the main reason is I have no holiday to look forward to....time to book another one!? And it't not as if the weather has given me any reason to get motivated! I have been feeling pretty sluggish and I came accross this little idea...

So this is the 30 day squat challenge and I am definitley up for this one! Just looking at it i'm thinking....PAH...I can handle this. But I have seen a few facebook statuses where they are on day 14 and struggling. Due to my lack of effort recently I fear I may collapse by day 5!

I will post every 4 days with my progress/pain every 4 days seeing as these are the rest days and hopefully I will see some progress and a better booty!

Hmm I have just found the 30 day ab challenge...maybe one thing at a time Sarah...

P.S I am aware this says April but I will be starting mid month becuase I can!

May Wish list

So although my birthday isn't until July (keen bean). I took a little trip into town on Sunday with my friend and it turned into being an afternoon to test out lots of different make up bits. And so.....my wish list began!

Firstly I had a little mooch around MAC and discovered one of their lipsticks in shade snob. One of the assistants popped some on for me and I could immediately feel how nourishing it was! The only reason I held off buying was becuase I'm pretty certain I have a very similar shade from Tophop in Pillow Talk. Although when I got home and realised how long it lasted and how great it still felt I think I may be having to purchase! I think MAC are great for their variety of shades. I always feel a little excited when I go and have a look becuase there are just so many to chose from! It's actually a lot more pinky in real life. I don't think the picture does it any justice. This is £14.

Then Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Rose Shimmer. I absolutely love love love pink blushers and the way this one shimmers is just beautiful! This is £32 and I'd be happy to pay this for my first Bobbi Blusher!

Moving onto CHANEL. Probably my favourite ever brand of cosmetics. Since doing some Christmas temp work for their branch in Southampton a few years ago and a few days to cover here and there I have been sold! I have to say it took me a long time to branch away from buying everything from them! Now this would just be a repurchase because I absolutely love it and it works wonders for on holiday. I don't like to apply foundation when I'm sunbathing becuase it's too heavy and I am yet to find the right tinted moisturiser, I just find it too greasey! So the Soleil Tan De Chanel has been my go to holiday item when I just want to have a bit of a glow about me! I think I bought this in November so it's lasted absolutely ages and I love how it looks good enough to eat when it's just been opened. This is £31.

Moving onto the Tiffany earings...I have been dreaming about these earings for about two years now but but for some reason I still don't own them! I absolutely adore tiffany's jewelery and especially this design, so simple and classic. Plus I have the matching necklace! It's meant to be. At £100 I think these will be a request from the boyfriend!

So I found this gorgeous handbag in Topshop. I am actually not really as bothered about handbags as I probably should be! It's normally becuase I'll just find something else to buy. Plus I really can't be bothered to keep moving my things into different bags. I don't really have many to chose from and I tend to use the same large one every day. Unless I need a smaller bag or it just really, really doesn't go! I actually prefer this bag in black but I couldn't find a picture. I love the size of it and the gold detail. I'm hoping to buy this next month as it's £50 and far too close to pay day to afford it!

Ahhhh UGGS. I don't think my love for them will ever die....although it seems my current pair are certainly heading that way. I've had two pairs over the duration of 4 years and they are just so so comfy and easy to wear. I've had two pairs of the calf length but my calves are just so skinny I am dying for a tall pair! At £200 it has only been the price holding me back!

I am pretty sure I will never own a kitchen aid....especially a pink one but a girl can dream can't she!? My boyfriend seems to think I would never use it but I am trying to convince him that if I owned one I definitley would be baking all weekend long! My brother's fiance recently got one for her birthday and I can't wait to try one of her creations, she always makes the best cakes! It would also save on the washing up and perhaps limit the size of the icing sugar cloud I seem to coat the kitchen in. Given the price of this beautiful machine I am going to have do some serious saving....convincing.

Going back to make up...I recently got a tester for the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer. I am absolutley loving it so far! I have have have to have a tester if it's for my face becuase I have really sensitive skin and can just break out in spots. But with this little beauty, so far so good. It's so soft and is like a rose gold colour. It just seems to offer that bit of a boost and make my skin look a lot brighter. I'm sure the lady said they were giving away the travel size of these for free if a foundation was bought.

On Saturday I went to Bluewater shopping centre and caught a glimpse of this gorgeous Mint pleated maxi skirt in Mango. I have a few weddings coming up and I would prefer to be wearing some glitzy sandals than some high heels all day and this minty number would be absolutely perfect for it! I'm thinking of teaming it up with a pastel pink top and a tan belt. Unfortunatley they didn't have the size I needed so it looks like it will be an online purchase for this and at £44.99 I don't think that's too bad!
